Intafact Hero’s Foundation Rewards Budding Entrepreneurs

Onitsha, August 29, 2017: The Intafact Hero’s Foundation Kickstart Programme; a CSI initiative of Intafact Beverages Limited has just concluded its 2nd award ceremony which rewarded 40 budding entrepreneurs’ with the sum of eighty-two million naira.

Now in its second year, the Intafact Hero’s Foundation continues to promote and instil a culture of entrepreneurship among Nigerian youths to enable them reach their full potentials via the intensive training, seed capital and mentoring provided through its Kickstart programme.

Whilst welcoming guests to the award ceremony, the Chairman of Intafact Hero’s Foundation, His Majesty, Nnaemeka Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha noted that “through Intafact Hero’s Foundation- CSI programme, it has empowered Nigerian youths to contribute meaningfully to the economic growth of Nigeria especially as the programme has been expanded to accommodate more states such as Benue, Delta and Edo beyond the five South Eastern States which the programme started with”.

Speaking also at the event, the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano encouraged the youths and awardees to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the Intafact Hero’s Foundation Kickstart Programme. He posited that “to become a successful entrepreneur, you must be passionate about your craft, resilient and disciplined, especially in the face of the current economic challenges. You must be ready to push ahead with the same strength, focus and vision that brought you to this point, and be ready to always go the extra mile and create value”. Governor Obiano, said his government has always empowered the youth and shall continue to do so while encouraging other companies to emulate Intafact Beverages Ltd.

Regional Director AB InBev and also a Trustee of the Foundation, Godwin Oche said that the Intafact Hero’s Foundation Programme is in line with AB InBev’s desire to deliver on its sustainable development objectives by helping to nurture prosperous and healthy communities. He also called on the successful awardees to use the grants they have received judiciously to grow their businesses. Explaining the programme further, he said: “in order to assist the awardees actualise their dreams, they will be mentored and guided for a period of one year by mentors, seasoned in the field of business and entrepreneurship”.

The awardees who had earlier received rigorous and intensive business training in June 2017 at the Business School of the Nnamdi Azikwe, University, Akwa expressed their gratitude to Intafact Beverages for the opportunity to pursue their dreams, saying the funds would go a long way to setting up and expanding their businesses.

Aluchuru Chukwunonso, one of the recipients’ who got three million naira for his paper production business said he would be eternally grateful to the Intafact Hero’s Foundation for making his lifelong dream to become a reality.

Intafact Hero’s Foundation, Creating more entrepreneurs!!!!

Intafact Beverages Limited is back. This time it is bigger and better as the programme has expanded beyond the South-East states; as it is now open to Nigerians living and have businesses in Abia, Anambra, Benue, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu and Imo States.

Last year 24 lucky young entrepreneurs emerged having submitted brilliant business proposals, underwent training and eventually got seed capital totaling a whooping sum of N50 Million.

The initiative focuses on helping young people to imbibe the culture of entrepreneurship and help them build their businesses from ideation to actualization. This year’s edition is open for entries from 20th March till Friday, 28th April, 2017.

Intafact Hero’s Foundation Kicks Off Second Edition Of Entrepreneur Search

Onitsha:  Friday, March 13, 2017: The Intafact Hero’s Foundation’s has announced the commencement of the second edition of its Kickstart programme. The Intafact Hero’s Foundation Kickstart programme is an annual activity aimed at helping to secure the future of youths between 18-35 years of age with ingenious business ideas. Application for participation in the programme will commence on the 20th of March to 28th of April 2017. This year, the scope for participation has been expanded to eight states unlike last year which comprised only the five states from the South Eastern Zone. Therefore, the second edition will welcome business proposals from youths living or presently doing business in Abia, Anambra, Benue, Delta, Edo, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states.

Addressing members of the press in a briefing in Onitsha, Anambra State, Godwin Oche, General manager of  Intafact Beverages, said, adequate preparations have been put in place to ensure a successful second edition, assuring that the logistics had been designed to ensure that the second edition is bigger and better than the previous edition. He disclosed that, “The Intafact Hero’s Foundation Kickstart is a CSI initiative uniquely focused on helping the youths to build their future. Our plan is to continue to tackle obstacles to entrepreneurship such as ambitious measures to facilitate start-ups and new businesses, improve access to finance, and give the incentives to inspire niche business ideas from young people.”

Oche explained that the process is simple and straightforward. “Applications are received and screened rigorously by experts. The successful applicants are trained on business rudiments and then given seed capital to either start up their proposed business ventures or expand existing ones.” For prudent business management and good returns, the new beneficiaries are closely mentored and coached over the next one year. The end product is the reward for applicants who submitted outstanding and implementable business proposals.”

Last year, the sum of 50 million naira was awarded to 24 successful applicants for their business expansion programmes at the Intafact Hero’s Foundation Award Ceremony. Charles Obinwugo of Anambra State emerged the star winner. He got the sum of N5.50 million while Alisi Francis from Imo State followed with a grant of N3m. Interestingly, Francis proposed to use the proceeds to expand his Bee farming business. The Intafact support initiative has helped both the youth and the society in the areas of creation of employment opportunities and capital formation as well as use of Local resources, improvement in the standard of living and ultimately, economic independence.

Still commenting, Mr. Godwin Oche said: “the whole process is geared towards giving back to our communities by empowering the young population to greater productivity and systematically collaborating with the government to fight poverty and unemployment through this scheme. This initiative focuses on helping young people to imbibe the culture of entrepreneurship and to build their businesses from ideation to actualization. This year, the Foundation will collate entries from Monday, 20th March till Friday, 28th April at the designated centers across the states as well as our online medium.

Speaking on the idea behind the inclusion of Edo, Delta and Benue States, Otunba Daramola, the Country Corporate Affairs and Strategy Director said, “We are gradually widening our coasts so as to have entrepreneurs scattered around our country, rather than an unbalanced concentration in one area. We aim to achieve balanced regional development.  The winners would be deserving of the seed capital and their communities would be the better for it. The success stories of our entrepreneurs have set the right example for others to follow and this will accelerate the pace of industrialization.”

Intafact Hero’s Foundation Splashes N50 Million On Young Entrepreneurs

Intafact Hero’s Foundation, a Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiative of Intafact Beverages Limited has rewarded young budding entrepreneurs that took part in its just concluded Intafact Hero’s Foundation Kickstart programme with the sum of 50 million naira.

Speaking at the Award ceremony, the Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Chief Willie Obiano, posited that the Intafact Hero’s Foundation could not have come at a better time especially with the economic situation in the country. He is excited that private organizations are collaborating with the government to fight poverty and unemployment by empowering its young population to greater productivity through this scheme and prays that other companies see the need to give back to its communities.

In a bid to impact in its community, the sum of 50 million naira was awarded to 24 successful applicants for their business expansion programmes and some will use it to set-up their business ventures. He also implored the awardees to reciprocate Intafact Hero’s Foundation gesture by ensuring the judicious use of the grants.  He further stated that the next season 2 of Intafact Hero’s Foundation would soon be opened so those looking to participate should start preparing their selves mentally.

Charles Obinwugo the star winner at the Award Ceremony who got the sum of N5.50 million for his new start up business said that the grant would help him fully establish and eternally grateful to the organisers for such a platform.

Speaking also was Alisi Francis who got a grant of three million naira and business situated in Imo state said that he was delighted to be among the lucky ones to be rewarded as this grant would go a long way in expanding his Bee farming for his business.

Hero’s Foundation To Reward Young Entrepreneurs At Its Award Ceremony

The Intafact Hero’s Foundation has announced that it would hold the award ceremony of the 2016 edition of its Kickstart Programme on December 9, 2016. The award ceremony would reward applicants who submitted outstanding and implementable business proposals.  The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano will be the special guest of honour at the awards ceremony.

In a statement made in Onitsha, it was stated that the successful applicants would be given seed capital to either start up their proposed business ventures or expand existing ones. These winners would continue to receive mentoring and guidance for a period of one year.

The brewery noted that the initiative was aimed at helping young people to imbibe the culture of entrepreneurship and to build their businesses from ideation to actualisation.

Highlighting the credibility of the selection process, the foundation board said the winners would be deserving of the seed capital having been thoroughly screened from the beginning when the applicants, numbering over 1,700, were pruned to the 120, who were trained at the Chike Okoli Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies and mentored by Prof. Alex Ikeme and Prof. Ngozi Anyikwa. The 120 short-listed applicants underwent five days training and submitted their business proposals, by which they were adjudged by a panel of five judges.

The panel was made up of Prof. Benjamin Osisioma, who is a Professor of Accountancy at the Nnamdi Azikwe University, Akwa; Joe Billy Ekwunife, the MD/CEO of Anambra State Investment Promotion Protection Agency (ANSIPPA); and Chidume Oranu Chris, who is the founder of Krioral Group of Companies and member of the Governing Board of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe.

Others were Bennedikter China Molokwu, who has sat on the boards of several companies including Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc, and Mainone Cable Company Limited (Mauritus); and Ngozika Okoye, who is the founding President of Nam George Okoye Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, which promotes adult education.

Hero Foundation Trains 120 Entrepreneurs on Business Expansion and Sustainability

SABMiller Hero Foundation has concluded the training of 120 young entrepreneurs drawn from the South-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria in the ongoing Kickstart programme, which is aimed at helping young people to imbibe the culture of entrepreneurship and build their businesses from idea to reality.

The five day intensive training workshop, which was held at the Chike Okoli Centre For Entrepreneurial Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Anambra state between August 8 and 12, focused on business idea/concept development, business growth, record keeping, financing and bridging finance gap for MSMEs/SMEs.  The modules of the training included Introduction to Entrepreneurship; Generating Business Ideas (Opportunities, Identification and Selection); Marketing Strategies; Financial Strategies; Organisational Strategies; Risk Analysis/Why Businesses Fail; Networking; and Coaching and Mentoring and How to write a Winning Business Plan.

The Director, Chike Okoli Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies, Prof. Ngozi E. Anyikwa, commended the SABMiller Hero’s Foundation for initiating the Kickstart programme, saying, “training exercise was designed to equip the participants with the needed skills and direction to profitably manage and expand their start-up enterprises within the local realities peculiar to their environs.”

The participants were also taught how to use the strengthened Credit Reporting System and the newly-established National Collateral Registry, in a presentation titled, ‘Addressing the SME Finance Gap: The Role of Financial Infrastructure.’ The National Collateral Registry (NCR) and Credit Reporting System were described as two basic financial infrastructures that will help to bridge the MSME finance gap. While the NCR enables MSMEs to access loan facilities with their movable assets, the CRS helps lenders assess the risk inherent in giving loans to MSMEs based on the credit report.

The Deputy Director and zonal Coordinator of South-East Operations for Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Mr. Levi Anyikwa, commended the participants for their robust contributions during the workshop. “They shared wonderful and practical ideas that will make good impact on the economy. With this training exercise, I see a lot of them running successful business enterprises,” Anyikwa said.

The participants commended the organisers for the initiatives and urge them to make the workshop an annual programme for youth development.

One of the participants, Cyril Chikwelu Odenigbo, described the training as “eye opener for the youth in the South East of Nigeria. We had awesome experience to take back home, we had quality resources persons with practical experience to share.” Another participant, Edom Thelma Chinemanu, described the programme as a good gesture from the SABMiller Hero’s Foundation. “I hope other companies will emulate them,” she said.

The Corporate Affairs Director of SABMiller Otunba Michael Daramola said the Hero’s Foundation’s commitment to youth development is unwavering and that the company will continue to support entrepreneurship among young people. He further said since the programme was officially launched in March, 2016, the Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiative of Interfact Beverages Limited has received a lot of commendation from the state government, cultural organisational and trade groups. This, he said was a good motivation to do more.

Hero Foundation Shortlists 120 For Training Phase of Kickstart Programme

120 applicants out of the over 1,700 that applied for the maiden edition of the SABMiller Hero’s Foundation Kickstart programme have been shortlisted for the training and evaluation phase. The training, which will last for a week, will commence on August 7, 2016.

The programme, which is a Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiative of Intafact Beverages Limited, is aimed at developing a local culture of entrepreneurship among young people in the South East geopolitical zone of Nigeria and helping them bring their business ideas to reality.

The Corporate Affairs Manager of Intafact Beverages Limited, Mr. Chuma Umunna, who announced this, said a number of criteria including innovativeness, creativity, business expansion, new business/start-up, sustainability amongst others, were considered in shortlisting the applicants.

The initiative was officially launched in March, 2016 with over 1700 applicants the five states in the zone proposing business ideas that span furniture, welding/fabrication, agriculture, video/photography/media, fine and visual arts, event planning, transportation, education, waste management etc.

The 120 applicants were shortlisted by the Chike Okoli Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, who are managing the training and evaluation phase of the programme on behalf of the SABMiller Hero’s Foundation.

Prof. Alex Ikeme, a renowned teacher, coach and social entrepreneur, will facilitate the training along with the Director of Chike Okoli Foundation Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies, Prof. Ngozika Anyikwa.

Prof. Ikeme is currently the Provost at the Sinai College of Education and Entrepreneurship Studies and former African Coordinator, International Train to Success Business Project. Also, he was the founding Director, UMM Entrepreneurship Study Centre at University of Mkar, Mkar; founding Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Development Research, University of Nigeria Nsukka; and founding Director, Entrepreneurship Development Centre, (Central Bank of Nigeria Initiative) South-East Zone.

 

He is also the Founder and CEO, United Aid International – a non-governmental organisation focused on development of a new generation of entrepreneurs and innovators.

The modules of the training include Introduction to Entrepreneurship; Generating Business Ideas (Opportunities, Identification and Selection); Marketing Strategies; Financial Strategies; Organisational Strategies; Risk Analysis/Why Businesses Fail; Networking; Coaching and Mentoring and How to write a Winning Business Plan.

After their training, a panel of five seasoned and experienced judges will take the shortlisted applicants through a practical evaluation process.

According to the General Manager, Intafact Beverages Limited, Lukas Daniel Van-Deventer, the main objective of this programme is to ensure that “the teeming youth in the South East with bright business ideas to turn these ideas into reality and this will in turn reduce undergraduate unemployment by engaging them meaningfully through an entrepreneurship programme that will encourage them to bring their dreams to life.”
